My name is Elif BILGIN. I am 18 years old. I want you to know me, so let me introduce myself. I am from Artvin, Turkey. I live in Ankara. I graduated from 14 March Elementary School, later Besikduzu IMKB Anatolian Teacher Training High School and now I am studying Department of English Language Teaching in METU. I am a freshman in METU so I am trying to get used to school, Ankara and dormitory. However, I have already liked everything in METU.

If you want me to present the things I like, I like reading books, especially novels. For example The Night Road is my favourite book. I recommend you to read it, you'll love it.

I like watching TV series like Doctor Who. My favourite accent of English is British accent so whenever I watch Doctor Who, I enjoy so much.

I like listening music so much. When I am bored or sad, I listen Adele and she makes me relax.

I like travelling, too. I think, I am keen on culture of English. Thus, the place I have always wanted to go is London. I want to go to museums, like Madame Tussauds which I have always been curious about and I want to be taken photos. I want to go to regional restaurants and taste English breakfast.

The other places which I want to go  America, Mexico, South Korea, Italy, France. I like learning new things, new cultures, new cuisines. My dream is that whenever I travel somewhere, I want to stay there for a while and live the way the same as they do. That's all I say about me. Thanks for reading.

FLE 133 CONTEXTUAL GRAMMAR

EXERCISES ON PARALLELISM

The Original Paragraph 1
#1:  Our beagle loves to hunt.  Someone opens the back door for her.  She barrels down porch steps into the yard.  She runs back and forth across the lawn in ecstasy.  Her nose cruises the wet grass for smells.  These are smells of cats, rabbit smells, and other presences too subtle for human detection.  She sniffs.  She spins her tail in quick circles.  It spins clockwise first.  Then it spins counterclockwise.  These two activities always occur together.  They are sniffing and spinning.  They seem to propel her along.

The Revised Paragraph 1
Our beagle love hunting. When someone opens the back door for her, she barrels down porch and steps into the yard. She runs back and forth across the lawn in ecstasy. Her nose cruises the wet grass for smells like cat, dog smells and other presences which are too subtle for human detection. While she is sniffing, she spins her tail in quick circles. After spinning clockwise, it spins counterclockwise. Sniffing and spinning always occur together. These seem to propel her along.

The Original Paragraph 2

My Version of "Imagine"

Imagine by Elif Bilgin

Imagine there are no difficulties

It's not hard if you want

No thing below us

Above us only God

Imagine all the people

Can manage whatever they want

Imagine there's no failure

It isn't hard to study

Nothing to give up or disappoint

And no hopeless too

Imagine all the people

Can manage whatever they want

You may say I'm a loser

But I'm not the only one

I hope someday you'll achieve the important things

And the world will believe you

Imagine no rainy day

Good days will come if you can believe yourself

No need for the others or anything

A brotherhood of man

Imagine all the people

Can manage whatever they want

You may say I'm a loser

But I'm not the only one

I hope someday you'll achieve the important things

And the world will believe you
